World helium price is expected to decrease further in 2024

Date: Jan 10, 2024

Gazprom, the Russian natural gas industry company, announced that it has successfully increased its ammonia production capacity eightfold in 2023. This move is expected to significantly improve the global helium supply situation. The CEO of the company, Yuri Lebedev, provided this important information in an interview with the Russian news agency, Sputnik.

According to Lebedev, from September to December of this year, Gazprom has shipped 100 ISO tanks, totaling over 400 tons of ammonia. This increase in quantity not only signifies significant progress in the company's ammonia production sector but also demonstrates its growing influence in the global helium market.

Nitrogen, as a crucial low-temperature product, finds extensive applications across multiple fields such as healthcare, scientific research, aerospace, and high-tech manufacturing. The shortage of ammonia supply has long been a significant challenge in the global market. The substantial increase in production capacity by Gazprom, the Russian natural gas industry company, is expected to alleviate supply pressure in the global market.

Two out of three helium units at Gazprom's Amur Gas Processing Plant have been put into operation by the end of this year, meeting their design parameters. This processing plant, located in the Far East region, is one of Russia's largest helium production bases, and its efficient operation is crucial for meeting domestic and international market demands.

The global market demand for nitrogen continues to rise, especially in high-tech industries. Gazprom's expansion of production capacity not only helps alleviate the global ammonia supply shortage but also opens new avenues for the company's commercial development and international cooperation.

Furthermore, as a local Chinese enterprise with a long-standing focus in the helium industry, Jin Hong Gas Co., Ltd actively engages in international business cooperation, offering long-term, high-purity, and cost-effective helium exports. This provides strong support for the development of industries such as semiconductors, fiber optics, air conditioning, and liquid crystal displays.
